Online shopping for 40DD bust sizes

If you’ve had trouble shopping for bras and are reading this, I don’t blame you. The reason why 40DD bras are hard to come by is because many typical undergarment stores only carry up to a bust size of 38. Purchasing the right bra can be difficult because every woman’s size, style, body shape and comfort preferences vary but I’m here to help you!

Instead of paying a visit to your local bras and intimates shop, take a peek at what items exist for your specific size on the internet. Yes, there are SO MANY online retailers that carry your size; you just have to know where to look! I’ve sized an extensive number of ladies working as a bra fitter and lingerie consultant; I find that women with size 40 busts best understand how much of a valuable investment these pieces of clothing are.

Seven out of ten times, ladies that come to me with 40DD or 40DDD sizes tell me that they go to “luxury” undergarment stores. This is because the commercial chains will try to get them to force their breasts into bras that are smaller so that they can make the sale. They find that these higher end stores will carry their sizes but it will be an arm and a leg to get the bra in the size and style they want, so they usually end up with a neutral color. I can assure you that when you shop online, you get an endless amount of color combinations and fashions and it’s a lot less painful. The real bonus is that most online shops will offer sales to customers from time to time whereas it’s rare that a luxury lingerie retailer will.

The bra that should be in your drawer

Women with larger bust sizes might have trouble finding the right sized tops. With fashion trends updating every season, new fabrics come in to the cycle. Being a bustier woman myself, I can’t wear some of these styles simply because my chest is very large. I don’t even look at chiffon tops anymore because they don’t have any stretch whatsoever, and it’s very hard to find a button down top that my girls will not be popping out of.

One way I try to get around my fashion issues is to always have a minimizing bra in my arsenal. These are great for women like you and me because they lift and redistribute breast tissue so that they look more trim. They also minimize the protrusion of the breasts which can help you get into your favorite tops. The bra that I always propose for women working with 40DDs is the C Magnifique Minimizer Bra by Chantelle, which you can find on Barenecessities.com. I’m positive you’ll like this one, and will most likely find a couple of other styles you like there as well.

Best bra styles for 40DD chests

Yes, searching for a bra that is a) supportive, b) your style and c) your size, can be very stressful; especially in a commercial lingerie store. I have yet to meet a woman that loves the fitting rooms when going bra shopping, that’s why finding the perfect bra online is without a doubt easier than physically going to any store.

When I got my first professional sizing done, I was shocked to know that I was a DDD cup. When I thought of triple D’s, I immediately thought that it was porn star status and that there was no way I had a bust size that big. Upon discovering my new bra size I immediately rushed to my laptop and searched up reviews, articles, and any information I could find on this size. It really helped to get the opinion of other women online.

With a 40DD bust size, you need a bra with full support so that your girls don’t budge. I’ve written a list of the best bras for your cup size, which you can read by clicking here.

If you’re looking for something more specific:

Stick to the brand you love

I have a general rule I live by: if it works, don’t change it. This is my motto for relationships, work life, and my bras. I do dabble and explore other brands of bras but I always end up purchasing from my initial favorite brands; I’m sure you will too! There’s no science to it but give different options a try and if you find something you really love, hold on to it. It works every time!

Find your true size for maximum comfort

If I could properly size every woman in the world, I think I’d really be doing womankind justice! Every woman that has come to me for a fitting always has the same complaints. But if anything, I can give you some knowledge on the signs that you’re wearing the wrong bra size. Look out for any sagging, red marks, or discomfort; it will all be in the article that’s linked. Women with larger bust sizes deserve to feel comfortable and confident too, wouldn’t you agree?!
